During the summer of 2017 I participated in Vassar College's Undergraduate Summer Research Institute (URSI) as a part of the Project "Dynamic Story Construction: Implementations of a Regular-Expression System for Role-Playing Games" under the supervision of Professor Tom Ellman in the Computer Science department. The project was inspired by Ken Levine's GDC talk "On Narrative Legos," in which he suggests using narrative building blocks that can be dynamically rearranged in order to take on the issue of how to create stories that respond in meaningful ways to player's actions. We implemented our system using Unity and PixelCrusher's Dialogue and Love/Hate systems.
